The mission of the City Clerk's Office is to ensure all elections are conducted fairly, accurately, and with the highest level of professional election standards, accountability, security, integrity, and in accordance with Wisconsin Statute 5.01. We are committed to transparency in our processes, which is intended to earn and maintain public confidence in the election process. Our goal is to have every eligible voter in the City of Greenwood be able to cast their ballot.

Elections will take place at City Hall- 201 S Main Street from 7am-8pm. You will need a photo identification.

  • You may register to vote online at myvote.wi.gov, by mail, or in-person at the Clerk's Office.
  • You will need your photo identification to register.
  • If your address is different than your photo identification, you will need proof of residency.
    • Proof of residency can be a utility bill, lease, bank statement, pay stub, student ID, military ID, employee ID, residential care, ect.
  • Requested absentee ballots are mailed 3 weeks before local (spring) elections and 47 days before national (fall) elections. Absentee ballots will be mailed out within one day of a request.
  • In-person absentee voting begins 14 days before the election and will be available Monday- Friday, 8:30am-4:00pm at the City Hall.
    • Last day to request an absentee ballot by mail is the Thursday before the election by 4:30pm.
    • Last day to vote in-person is Friday before the election at 4:00pm.
  • Absentee ballots may be requested online via myvote.wi.gov, mail, or in-person to the Clerk's Office.
  • Absentee ballots must be mailed to the voter unless early voting in Clerks Office.
  • Absentee ballots must be received by 8:00pm on Election Day.
  • Voters may register online or by mail until 20 days before the election or in-person through Election Day.

Spring Local Election

  • First day to circulate nomination papers is December 1, 2025, and the final day for filing nomination papers is 5:00p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, in the City Clerk's office.
    • Ward 1 Alderperson- Tracy Nelson, Incumbent
    • Ward 2 Alderperson- Ryan Ashbeck, Incumbent
    • Mayor- Dave Hansen, Incumbent
  • If an Incumbent has failed to file non-candidacy and did not return nomination papers. Per state statue 8.10(2)(a) The city will accept nomination papers until Friday, January 9, 2026, at 4:30pm.
  • Absentee Ballots may be requested online via myvote.wi.gov, mail, or in-person to the Clerk's Office.
  • Absentee ballots must be mailed to the voter unless early voting in Clerks Office.
  • Absentee ballots must be received by April 7, 2026, at 8:00pm.

2026 Election Dates:

  • February 17, 2026- Spring Primary (If Needed)
  • April 7, 2026- Spring Election
  • August 11, 2026- Partisan Primary
  • November 3, 2026- General Election
